Hester Park Greensboro: The Complete Guide to One of GSO’s Least Talked about Parks (2026)
If you’re looking for a park that does a little bit of everything, Oka T. Hester Park deserves a spot on your list. Tucked away at 3615 Deutzia St. on Greensboro’s west side, this 5.7-acre park is one of the city’s four regional parks — and it’s the kind of place locals return to again and again, because there’s always something different to do depending on the day. The park is open daily from 8am to 7pm, weather permitting.
Fishing
Hester Park’s lake is ringed by multiple piers, including one built to be accessible for visitors with physical challenges. The lake is part of the NC Community Fishing Program, so catchable-sized channel catfish are stocked from April through September. Pick up a daily $2 fishing pass and $4 bait at the Hester Park office — and good news for families, kids 12 and under fish for free.
Playgrounds
