A note on hours: Central Library, Hemphill, Kathleen Clay Edwards, and Vance Chavis are open Mon–Thu 9am–9pm, Fri–Sat 9am–6pm, and Sun 2pm–6pm. Central Library

Located in the heart of Greensboro’s cultural district, right between the Greensboro History Museum and the Cultural Center, and directly across from the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Central Library offers more than 100 computers, including a 12-workstation computer lab with free training. The first floor has a large children’s space and Popular Library with fiction, audiobooks, music, and DVDs. The second floor houses nonfiction, the North Carolina Collection, the Business Collection, the Nonprofit Resource Center, and an information desk staffed by professional librarians.


Benjamin Branch Library

Located in northern Greensboro near Lake Jeanette, this unique open-concept branch features the Navigator, a vibrant Teen Zone, and the cozy Elizabeth Cox McNairy Living Room. Highlights include the Sandy Neerman Collaboration Room, 3-D printing, a laptop kiosk, and 11 desktop computers. McNairy also regularly offers inclusive All Abilities programs for people with special needs.


Hemphill Branch Library

Hemphill is an innovative combination of art gallery and public library, thanks to a partnership with the Green Hill Center for NC Art. Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch

Tucked inside the 98-acre Price Park, this branch is surrounded by walking trails, a bird and butterfly meadow, a reading garden, ponds, and wetlands. A 10,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Phillips and Woodbriar avenues with high ceilings and lots of natural light. McGirt-Horton features a Special Collections area including the African American collection, more than 30 public computers, and a teen wing with a video lounge, sound booth, and multimedia lab. The interactive children’s area encourages discovery and literacy, and there’s meeting space for 50 people plus a snack/vending area.


Vance H. Chavis Lifelong Learning Branch
