U-Pick Flower Farms and Spring Blooms Around the Triad
Spring and summer in Greensboro is hard to beat. Once the flowers start blooming, we’re always looking for excuses to get outside. Whether we’re planning family photos, a casual afternoon picking flowers, or just soaking in the scenery, there are so many beautiful spots close to Greensboro to enjoy them.
We’ve pulled together our favorite flower farms, gardens, and bloom-filled parks within an hour of Greensboro. Each farm is grouped by the city it’s closest to, but honestly, several of these are worth a short road trip. Tulips usually peak in March and April, and sunflower season really shines in July. If summer blooms are your thing, you’ll want to save this list.

Blueberry Thrill Farm

Blueberry Thrill Farm has that relaxed, country feel we love. It’s a second-generation family farm that’s been around since 1982, and you can tell how much pride they take in it. We’ve enjoyed wandering the fields, picking flowers and fruit, and just slowing down for a bit. It’s a great spot if you want a low-key outing where kids can roam and adults can breathe.
Gusenbury Fields Lavender Farm

This small lavender farm feels like a hidden gem. When we visited, the scent alone made us want to stay longer. Chris and Angie Newsom have created such a peaceful space, and it really shows. We loved browsing their shop with handmade items like candles, linen sprays, and soaps. It’s the kind of place where you go to slow down and just enjoy being outside.
Firefly Farm

Firefly Farm has a great mix of open farm days and ticketed u-pick events. We like keeping an eye on their schedule because they also offer flower subscriptions and host events. If you’ve ever wanted to see a working flower farm up close, their open farm day is a fun way to do it.

Fernrock Farm feels like stepping into a secret garden. We loved walking through the raised beds, cutting flowers while hummingbirds zipped around. It’s calm, beautiful, and perfect if you enjoy creating your own arrangements. Buckets can be shared with friends or family, which makes it a fun group outing.

This farm is especially close to our hearts. Everything you buy here supports the Freedom House recovery program for mothers and their children. We’ve stopped by for strawberries in the spring, but they offer so much more throughout the year including flowers, fresh produce, eggs, pumpkins, and even Christmas trees. It feels good knowing your visit makes a real difference.

Dewberry Farm

Dewberry Farm is pure springtime joy. When we went, the tulip fields seemed to stretch forever, with over 143,000 tulips planted. There’s so much for kids to do, from farm animals and swings to a hedge maze and photo props. They sell drinks and snacks, have indoor bathrooms, and plenty of picnic spots. Tickets are pre-sold online, which helps keep the crowds manageable.
Harmon Family Farm

Harmon Family Farm really feels like family. We loved seeing the goats and cattle while wandering the property. They offer u-pick flowers along with beef sales and farm products. If you catch them in May, the red and pink poppies are absolutely worth the visit.

Armstrong Artisan Farm

This place is packed with things to do. We’ve spent hours here picking strawberries and tulips, watching lambs, and enjoying hayrides and wagon rides. There are photo areas everywhere, plus games, a petting zoo, and picnic spots. It’s a full day experience, especially great for families.

Blooming Acres is a favorite for sunflower season. Admission includes a sunflower, and additional blooms are very affordable. We like that they also offer tours and welcome school field trips. It’s colorful, cheerful, and easy to enjoy at your own pace.

Dogwood Farm

Dogwood Farm’s wildflower fields are stunning in late April and early May. We’ve also visited during sunflower season in July, and it’s just as beautiful. With 13 acres of blooms, there’s plenty of space to explore and take photos.
Jones Strawberry Farm

Jones Strawberry Farm brings the color when tulip season arrives. There’s no admission fee, which makes it easy to bring a group. We appreciated the laid-back setup and the reminder to bring our own clippers. It’s simple, cheerful, and all about the flowers.
Late Bloomers Flower Farm

This sister-owned farm has such a welcoming feel. Their tulip season is short, only about three weeks, but they continue offering flowers as the seasons change. We love that they sell flowers by the bucket, which is perfect for events or DIY arrangements.

Serenity Ridge Farm is relaxed and family-friendly. We enjoyed picking sunflowers and wildflowers and hearing about their new Highland calf, who will soon be part of photo sessions. It’s a fun spot if you want flowers and a little farm charm.

This sunflower field is impressive. Fourteen acres of blooms with a sunflower maze make it feel like a mini adventure. They also grow cosmos and zinnias, which adds even more color.
Places to See Spring Blooms Without Picking
Triad Park

Triad Park is one of our favorite early spring spots. The rows of white flowering trees are beautiful in March, and the paved paths make it easy to walk with kids or strollers.
Tanglewood Park

The Rose Garden and Arboretum here are always a highlight. We love strolling through the blooms and then letting the kids play. With so many activities in one place, it’s easy to spend half a day here.
Millstone Creek Orchards

This place offers something in every season. In March, the peach blossoms are especially beautiful. We’ve enjoyed picking fruit, watching the kids play, and grabbing fresh cider. It’s one of those places that feels like a tradition waiting to happen.
Gateway Gardens

Gateway Gardens is a great spot for younger kids. The interactive elements keep them engaged, and the flowers make it a pleasant walk for adults too.
Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens

This garden feels peaceful and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the paved loop, the creek, and the sculptures throughout. It’s an easy walk and connects nicely to nearby trails.
Arboretum at Lindley Park

This is one of our go-to stroller-friendly walks. The flowers are beautiful, and while it can be a little noisy from nearby roads, it’s still a great spot to stretch your legs.
Reynolda Gardens

Reynolda Gardens always feels like an escape. The formal gardens are lovely, but we also enjoy wandering the wooded paths and open fields. It’s free, spacious, and full of little surprises like ponds and turtles.
